The Aromatherapy certificate (course D) is a certificate course in Holistic Aromatherapy, for people who already have other qualifications in the healing and healthcare fields.

It does not require studying massage as it is usually the case for ALL other types of Aromatherapy courses.
It may appeal to people who wish to learn for themselves, for family & friends or to add to other skills.

Course D includes study of Anatomy & Physiology and Aromatherapy and lead to a certificate in Holistic Aromatherapy from the SoHA. It does not qualify for entrance to IFA examinations.

SYLLABUS for the Course D

Module I- Anatomy & Physiology

The Anatomy & Physiology module is compulsory and islearned at the same time as the aromatherapy module as it is essential to have some basic knowledge of the structures and workings of the body while using essential oils.

Outline of Syllabus

1. Learn important medical terminology 2. Learn general organisation of the body 3. Learn about the concept of homeostasis 4. Learn name, organs and location of main body systems 5. Learn definitions of the chemical basis of life 6. Learn structure of cells and tissues 7. Learn the essentials of each body system: * Integumentary system (Skin) * Cardio-vascular system * Lymphatic system * Respiratory system * Skeletal system * Muscular system * Nervous system * Endocrine system * Digestive system * Excretory system * reproductive system * Immune system 8. Learn common disorders of the different body systems suitable for aromatherapy treatments Assessment: presentation of workbook and assignments
