Accreditation
IFA Diploma Award In Holistic Aromatherapy
The course is accredited (reg. No 90/3/0115) by the International Federation
of Aromatherapists www.ifaroma.org, the first
established aromatherapy organisation (1985) with a leading reputation in the standards
of aromatherapy.
Insurance:
At the beginning of their course, students will be able to become IFA Student
Members, (at a special student rate), the package comes with a special students'
insurance.
Diploma Award & Certificates
Students
will be awarded a Diploma in Holistic Aromatherapy from SoHA (SoHA Dip) and two IFA certificates
(one certificate for practical aromatherapy and massage skills and one certificate for knowledge in the theory of aromatherapy) when ALL assignments and examinations
have been successfully completed.
Once qualified, students will become IFA Full members and add the professional
letters SoHA Dip & MIFA after their name and will be able to practice in a professional capacity.
As the school is also affiliated to the following associations, the Institute
for Complementary Medicine and the Aromatherapy Consortium (ex-AOC), qualified
students will be able to have their name included in the national registers of
these organisations.
The Aromatherapy Course Assessments and Examinations include:
- 1 x 2 ½ hour practical examination with IFA examiners who will visit
SoHA to observe and assess students on their ability and competency to perform
an aromatherapy massage treatment and on their communication and management skills during a treatment.
- 1 x 2 hours, written examination paper in Anatomy & Physiology, Body
Massage & Business.
- 1 x 2 hours paper on the theory and practice of aromatherapy
At the time of the practical IFA examination students will submit the following
completed assignments:
- The course study file containing the 50 essential oil profiles and other required
studies
- The fully completed business project
- A 6 weeks case study ready for the examiner’s inspection
- Completed & Recorded assignments as instructed
Post-examination assessment:
- Submission of x 3 case study (x 3 individual case studies seen weekly for 10
consecutive treatments) and 15 individual case studies (not necessarily massage)
on the application of aromatherapy treatments
- A 1,000 words essay where the student will draw a comparison based on all
case studies
Every course assignment must be recorded as instructed by the tutor and presented
in a suitable file, within the required timescale before the SoHA diploma and IFA certificates can be issued.
The IFA works in partnership with the School of Holistic
Aromatherapy and provides examination and accreditation, membership and insurance. However, the SoHA is a private, independent school and has
its own set of rules and requirements which students must adhere too.
